Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP)

Bringing Energy Storage to Disadvantaged Communities

To reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the demand on California’s electric infrastructure, SGIP offers rebates for installing energy storage technology in customer homes and offers higher rebates, or even no-cost energy storage, through its equity and equity resiliency rebates.

As part of RHA’s delivery of the San Joaquin Valley Disadvantaged Communities Pilot Program, RHA assisted customers with the SGIP application process and installed and commissioned Tesla Powerwall2 battery systems as a licensed electrical contractor and certified installer. The 10-kW battery system includes two batteries and provides the added benefits of supplying electrical power during utility outages and using stored energy when utility rates are high to save customers money on utility bills. This functionality helps offset potential increases in electricity bills caused by electrification.
