For residents who rely on energy to power important medical devices, power outages can be challenging and even life-threatening. However, in wildfire-threat areas, power occasionally needs to be turned off temporarily to reduce the risk of electric infrastructure igniting fires.

To protect at-risk customers while taking proper public safety precautions, SDG&E partnered with RHA to design and deliver the Generator Grant Program. This program provides medically vulnerable customers living in wildfire-threat areas who have experienced public safety power shutoffs with no-cost, solar-powered generators. RHA procures and delivers the generators to customers identified by SDG&E and provides education on the equipment so that customers can power their important medical devices during outages.
