The Energy Savings Assistance Program was designed to help low-income families – who are more likely to live in older, inefficient homes and be burdened by utility costs – save energy and money. The program provides no-cost home improvements – such as LED lighting, appliances and insulation – to make qualifying customers’ homes more energy-efficient, reducing their monthly utility bills and leading to healthier and more comfortable and safe living environments.
SDG&E has partnered with RHA for over 40 years to support the program’s success. RHA originally served as SDG&E’s principal outreach contractor, providing the program with over 95% of customer enrollments, screening customers for eligibility, assessing households for feasible measures, installing simple measures and providing in-home energy education informed by customers’ energy habits. In 2023, RHA became the program implementer, overseeing the delivery of outreach, home assessments, customer education, measure installation and quality assurance.
